Fund Phosh on Debian for Mobile
Who are you? What is your goal?
As users of Debian on Mobile phones, we want to prioritize and crowd fund its development.
Can Debian run on mobile phones? GNOME or KDE (Phosh or Plasma Mobile)?
Currently focusing on Mobian and Droidian until Debian itself can be used directly. We will focus our effort with Phosh as the interface since that is the most complete implementation right now. If you like the idea but would like to focus on a different interface, feel free to start a similar process (collect priority items, vote on the proposed items, crowd fund the popular items) for your favorite interface.
Why is this important for your group? How are you going to do this?
We should be able to develop important missing features and fix regressions to be able to use Debian on our mobile phones. There are also complimentary efforts by Purism and Furi Labs focusing on their own devices support.
Can you tell me more?
Collect issues that people feel are important. Each thread is an issue and can have multiple tags (affected devices, feature, regression etc)
After a month (roughly enough time for many people to propose issues) we start a poll with all suggested items to order the issues by priority
Create bounties on opencollective.org for the most popular issues
Ask people to donate and look for developers
If someone wants to work, they contact us and we mention who is working on the bounty page
Once the work is done, they collect the money from Open Collective
See https://codema.in/d/pgFEQHaY/debian-on-mobile-feature-prioritizing-and-fund-raising-proposed-structure for more details.
Can I join via an app like Element or Conversations?
Also join us via any of the two links (they are bridged so joining any one will allow you to talk to people joining via the other link as well. If you are new to XMPP or Matrix, you can learn more from those links as well),
I'm new to codema.in/loomio, how do I participate?
You will need to create an account and then request to join this group. Loomio is similar to traditional discussion forums with extra features to help decision making (different kinds of polls are available). Each group and sub group can decide their own membership rules.
