Creating a collective on Open Collective

Now that we have a list of high priority tasks and want to raise funds, we should create a collective on OpenCollective.com The default fiscal host for Free Software projects is Open Source Collective, but they usually expect a classic project and not a "meta" project like ours I think. Also they charge a fee of 10% or close to it. Should we ask someone already into Free Software mobile like Purism or FuriLabs or Pine64, if they are willing to be fiscal host without charging a fee, as it would directly benefit them? OpenCollective allows any legal entity to be a fiscal host and handle finances.

I think we can go ahead with Open Source Collective as a fiscal host and if we find other fiscal hosts that don't charge a fee later, we can consider hosting future campaigns there.

@Pirate Praveen I agree.

I found another fiscal host with 0% fees. https://superbloom.design/community/our-support/#fiscal-sponsorship so I'm going to apply with them.

Thank you for your interest in fiscal hosting with Open Source Collective! This sounds like an interesting project! I have a few questions before we can move forward with your application.
To better understand your initiative. could you share what group or organization is overseeing this funding initiative and your role in it? Is this managed by a formal team or is it a community-driven effort?
Additionally, how will you ensure that funds are properly allocated and that development work is completed as expected? How do you plan to coordinate feature prioritization and development across the different Debian-based mobile distros?
I’m asking because, from a fiscal host perspective, we need to ensure that applicants have an appropriate level of access and standing in the community, that contributions are properly tracked and documented, that user-identified priority features will be delivered, and that all funds we hold directly benefit open source for your particular project. I appreciate your insights on these points.

Draft Reply (please review): It is a community driven initiative and we have developers from PureOS and Mobian participating in the discussions.
I am an official member of the Debian project, though my contributions has been mainly in Ruby team as maintainer of gitlab. But I'm Systems Administrator at Purism, so closely connected to PureOS developers as well (I maintain infra used for PureOS development like source.puri.sm gitlab instance or build.puri.sm Jenkins CI or https://lists.fsci.in etc).
I have been using Librem 5 and FLX1 as daily drivers for quite some time now and have prepared unofficial backports for mobian/pureos (and official backports for Debian - also maintain https://fasttrack.debian.net). I have been providing feedback and reporting issues on FLX1 forums as well. I have personally met people from Mobian, PureOS and FuriOS projects at various conferences. I am active in Free Software community for over 20 years and ws involved in organizing DebConf 23 at Kochi, India.
Other admins Ravi Dwivedi also uses FLX1 as daily driver and Badri uses a Poco F1 and maintains an XMPP Client Convo for KaiOS. All of us deeply care about making Free Software usable for every one and we are actively involved in Prav XMPP app (https://prav.app)
We will make sure only completed projects get paid in full and any funding will be coordinated with developers of concerned projects. We will use official issue trackers used by each project to communicate about availability of bounties.

Open Source Collective collects a 10% fee on incoming funds, correct. https://docs.oscollective.org/how-it-works/fees
I am working for MapLibre as maintainer. We are also a "meta" project and use OSC. I think we've been quite happy with them overall.
