Created a new group for free software in education

Would you like to help me in convincing and giving technical help to educational institutes to switch to free software?
We can organize meetings with educational institutes and try to convince them in various ways. People from outside FSCI who share this goal with us can also join. As usual people will participate on voluntarily. I need some suppport and people who would like to take initiative as well. I cannot do it alone.

The group can be joined to IRC and Telegram if the need arises. XMPP is preferred due to reliability issues, but same group can be accessed via matrix via bifrost bridge (but sometimes the bridge misses some messages).

I think we should have a group meeting to fix the aim of the group concretely. Also, we will discuss this group's workflow.You only need to agree that you want to promote free software in education to be in the meeting. In today's meeting, we discussed:
Why educational institutes do not switch to free software? What are their actual problems? We will try to talk to some institutes and ask them why they don't switch to free software.
A strategy for now is to talk to any institute in which we have contacts and are wiling to listen to us.
Convincing Kerala teachers is a priority task. Get the letter ready and form for signing.

We can create both mailing list and codema sub group. Mailing list is already created.
Currently we have Matrix and XMPP groups (bridged), but the bridge is currently missing support for offline messages for xmpp users and federation delay to matrix.org causes those messages to not reach xmpp users. So a mailing list was suggested in the group as a solution.
I think a codema sub group can solve the immediate problem of unreliability and it gives additional options like more collaborative editing and proposals etc. as in many cases mailing lists remain silent as many people don't check mails regularly. codema allows fine grained email notifications (all posts, new threads or subsribed to specific threads or daily summary) and replying via email to new threads, though creating new threads should be done via the web interface.
Some people are more comfortable with web interface and some are more comfortable with email interface.
If we decide to create a mailing list, we have to decide if we should keep archives public or private.

Mailing list can be used for important announcements and I would suggest a private mailing list so that we can have a private discussion. Also, someone using emails but not using any chatting app should not be forced to use a chatting app to be involved in the discussion. If someone does not want to try any chatting app, let it be.

We wish to send acknowledgement emails to the people who signed the letter and start discussing with people who said that they would like to join the campaign. We have a meeting for 3rd September 2021 4:30 PM to decide the template for emails.
