Authorize Abraham Raji as a social media team member with access to our social media accounts
He currently helps with maintaining the website and recently started a project to redesign/organize content in the website. I think he can help us become active on social media and reach out to more people.

Authorize Abraham Raji as a social media team member with access to our social media accounts Closed Tue 26 May 2020 5:00PM
We can provide Abraham Raji access to social media accounts. Two things would be nice 1. He should join as an associate to demonstrate his commitment to our values 2. We should create a Matrix group for fast decisions on what to post and what not to post.

while it's nice to have more volunteers, it'd be great if they can show their commitment to the constitution by becoming an associate

unlike volunteering for website design or similar activities, handling social media needs to be more responsible. i know we are asserting good faith here that the volunteers will only produce/share content that aligns with our basic principles. but what if they don't? if they have agreed to the constitution they are at least bound by moral obligation. isn't that the whole point of such a process in order to become an associate?

OK, we can ask him to be an associate before granting access. I look at volunteering for various things as a way to get involved and being associate need not be a pre requisite. They may get inspired to become associate though volunteering.

I think the concern is at two levels.
1) Whether a volunteer can be trusted. I say, yes. We are all volunteers. And a trust first approach has generally worked out well for us in the past.
2) Can a volunteer make social media posts on their own (with content that they come up with). I guess this is where Bady's concern lies. There should be some sort of vetting process for social media posts as it is "Indian Pirates" making such posts. This should exist regardless of whether it is a volunteer or a permanent member making the posts. But I would also say that for the sake of practicality at least, it should not be a loomio based consensus process, but rather something more synchronous, like say a riot group of people who vet or veto each post rapidly.

i agree.
a riot group of people who vet or veto each post rapidly.
this seems to be a very good idea.

@Bady I'm not sure if insisting on being an associate before volunteering will produce the desired result. Just like clicking 'I Agree' button before signing up various services or installing software they may do that here too.
