Social Media and Web Presence Strategy
Hey everyone,
I propose we have a discussion on our online strategy which should reflect the upcoming goals of the "Indian Pirates".
- Increasing the Member base
I think we would add a site registration form for new people to join our mailing list. I usually prefer with mailchimp for stuff like this as it's dead simple but that's usually when i'm doing things for corporates. We can also explore self hosted solutions if that's more in line with the party ethos.
- Increasing Web presence
Regular Blog post on various topics of current events. We can have a discussion on a topic and i can convert that into an article. This would be very helpful as it should be able to increase our reach and hopefully bring more like minded people to our community. The content is also important for us to increase our SEO ranking + bring in traffic from social media sites.
We can also email the article to our members which should keep that active.
I was initially thinking of keeping the blog at piratespartyindia.com (hence me buying that domain before i found out about you guys) - that site is totally github hosted.
We can add the blog content to the current http://pirates.org.in also just not sure of how simple it would be to add a small blog engine there.

I think more that the solutions, we are missing people to do it. We have twitter (and it seems our account piratesin is blocked) and diaspora (https://diasp.in/u/piratesin) to reach out, but they are silent. We can use our diaspora account as blog and embed the public stream (rss/atom) on the website. Once we are active with existing channels, it makes sense to add more channels like a mailing list.

@wingston actually there were discussions about adding a registration form and members list in the official site pirates.org.in. as a part of that process the site has been migrated to php recently. if we get more volunteers we can implement such features more quickly. as @praveenarimbrathod mentioned "more than the solutions, we're missing people to do it".
We can have a discussion on a topic and i can convert that into an article.
@wingston that would be nice

First complete understanding of what Indian pirates is.
Second we people must be willing to use non free(dom) technologies and analytics supplied by say like Google so that things become efficient.
I will put a permanent person for you, guiding that person now and then. That person will also backup as excellent content writer.
Indian Pirates should have a agreement with us so that I / my team can co-control social accounts, this will be necessary in case of disputes.
Definitely we cannot match professionally run parties. In the longer run we must collect marketing funding (possibly like the transparent ones done by AAP), and with innovative ideas we can win some ground. There is also this multilingual issue.
There is a lot to think and talk. Call me 9444018524 or email 77minds@gmail.cm so that we can come to touch with each other.
