Wiki dead ?

@manukrishnantv can you install a mediawiki instance on it? Name "FOSS Community of India". I will import the pages on saturday...

@balasankarchelamat Sure. I'll get that done tonight.

1. Wiki is up with all pages restored (except of course "User" pages)
2. Will clean up images and add them soon. So many unnecessary images exist in my database.
3. User registrations temporarily closed (until we find a way to fight spam).

However, a problem persists. I left the wiki open for a little time yesterday night and got a BIG LOAD of spam registrations within that few time. So, the spambot still attacks fosscommunity.in. All the common Spam blocking plugins are installed and still this happens.

Everyone plese suggest, better anti-spam measures.

If, none is found, we will be forced to make the wiki "registration by admins only" permanently.. :(

Images uploaded. I used regex to delete unwanted images. So, some necessary images may have got deleted. If anyone of you find red link on any Image, do report it.

Now, I believe the tasks within my technical know-how is over. Now suggestions needed to prevent spam and combing user table.

@balasankarchelamat Can you consult with Anivar, who maintains the SMC wiki? Its also on the same server now.

@balasankarchelamat thanks a lot! Now can you guide someone new to restore chamba wiki? It would be good to have more people who know to admin media wiki.

I can try.. Btw, do we have a DB backup of Chamba Wiki? And, do we have a group for Chamba?

@balasankarchelamat I have some of the tables. User table is gone though. Its around GB's now. Let me find a way to share that with you.

@manukrishnantv FCI wiki was abt 4 GB. Do you have it in your local system?? If so, one day I can come to Ernakulam.

I have many copies of the DB lying around in my office systems.

@balasankarchelamat it would be good to have more people knowing how to do it. So ask if Alfaz or Sarath wants to sit with you and learn it.
