This is a follow-up of my previous proposal FSCI Localisation Project: https://codema.in/d/1vLUQhN7/proposal-fsci-localisation-project-a-project-to-coordinate-indian-localisation-effort-to-reach-the-masses

I had some good amount of success this week in my attempts to revive GNOME Telugu Translation Team. In short, I got in touch with GNOME and they tried to contact the old coordinator and the old coordinator said he's willing to transfer the coordinator role to me. This transfer should be done in the upcoming days.

I made this post to inform you that GNOME is having a team restructuring for their language teams. They've removed all of the inactive language coordinators and are interested in appointing new coordinators.

The following are the Indian language teams that do not have a coordinator right now:

  • Bengali

  • Gujarati

  • Hindi

  • Kannada

  • Kashmiri

  • Mathili

  • Malayalam

  • Marathi

  • Oriya

  • Urdu

If you are a native/proficient speaker of these languages and are interested in this project and translating GNOME, please reach out to the GNOME Damned Lies team at: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Teams/Translation/Coordination/-/work_items

You should first try contacting the existing team via their mailing list if anyone's open for being the coordinator or you could offer to be the new coordinator in case the team is entirely dead.

I also request someone in FSCI to make a new list for fsci-l10n@lists.fsci.in so that for the time being we can use this list to coordinate our efforts irrespective of the language team so that we can have a common platform to help each other out.
