Making loomio more popular
I had a chat with Rob Guthrie (the sole developer of loomio software) today. RG was saying they're looking for help in making loomio more popular and widely used.
I think as a group which has been using loomio for a long time and as a free software advocacy group, we should think about ways we can do this.
There are several non-nerdy groups which could potentially be using loomio for (collaborative) decision making:
boards of companies/NGOs
committees of various groups
resident welfare associations
school/college clubs, mock parliaments
...
Are there things that we can do to make loomio more visible to these groups and make them try it out?

Prav is anyway giving talks in various places, and we have been talking about giving focused presentations instead of trying everything at once. At the same time, we have also been talking about expanding outreach beyond just tech circles to include other communities as well.
So maybe Prav can try giving talks specifically about Loomio? That can include our decision-making processes but also have focus on Loomio features in general and how other groups/organisations can adapt it to their own needs. It doesn't just have to be Prav of course; I mention that since we have been going around giving talks on behalf of that project anyway.
On a different note, if we want to invite other groups to be hosted on our instance, "Codema" might not the best name for it as it sounds rather tech focused?

@badrihippo codema has nothing to do with code - it is short for COllaborative DEcision MAking.

@Pirate Praveen TIL! In that case, we should highlight the fact more. I couldn't find any reference to it on the platform itself.
What if we refer to it as CoDeMa, so it is more clear that it is an acronym not related to code?

@badrihippo we could do it. Till now I did not think it could be considered related to code!

I think it would also be worth finding out what the mentioned groups like company/NGO boards, committees, clubs, RWAs, etc. currently use for decision-making and how it is working out for them. If we know the specific problems (and non-problems) they are facing we can address that more directly when suggesting Loomio.

Happy to get something featured to my personal blog as well, and on my Mastodon too. :)

Loomio could have a community outside of what they currently have - XMPP, IRC and Matrix come to mind.

Suggestion: publish articles on magazines like Open Source For You and
Info Kairali, and propose talks on local FOSS events.
