Proposed edit to our constitution

VidyutVidyut Fri 17 Jul 2015 6:16AMPublicSeen by 485

I propose that this be added to our constitution.

Indian Pirates are committed to support civil rights, direct democracy and participation in government, reform of copyright and patent law, free sharing of knowledge (open content), information privacy, transparency, freedom of information, anti-corruption and network neutrality.

From my experience of this community over the last 4 years, I have not seen any collective stand go contrary to any of this. Not a single one. These are known Pirate Party causes. Yet, we call ourselves pirates, but for some mysterious reason have refrained from stating this explicitly. I propose we adopt them formally, so that we may work on them more actively.

Note: I don't know how the voting thing goes. Separate proposals for each or one proposal that people can comment any disagreement on.

Make our points more clear

"Indian Pirates are committed to support human rights, direct democracy and participation in government, reform of copyright and patent law, free sharing of knowledge (open content), information privacy, transparency, freedom of information, anti-corruption and network neutrality."

In the above line, which is added to both the Constitution (Article 1, Section 1) and the home page of pirates.org.in, I suggest to change "information privacy" to "personal privacy" and "transparency" to "open/transparent governance" to avoid confusion. I'd also like to suggest that we should add "social justice" along with "human rights".

@vidyut if there is no objection, all of it can go at once. First we can discuss here and fine tune. Once we are clear, it can be included with a vote in "Voting Members" group.

There is no mystery, no one bothered to put forward a proposal like this before, thats it.

Adding to third slide under "Fix What is Broken" is better I think.

@praveenarimbrathod I'm planning to make a lot of proposals of this sort now. We need to get our documents in order - they lead people accepting them to expect things in the community.
