As far as I know, it was submitted upstream but Dino does not like it. @Pirate Praveen can shed more light.

Yes, it is submitted upstream and it was linked in the blog post https://github.com/dino/dino/pull/1309 They have not commented on it yet, but earlier discussions in their group indicated they are opposed to this policy. They claim sharing device ids with strangers violates privacy, though I disagree with them (as is most other xmpp clients which shares public keys with everyone). The whole idea of public keys is that, you want to share it with the world.
Even if they want to do this by default, not even allowing users to override it via a setting is not acceptable for a Free Software app.

Thanks for sharing this. Was the fix submitted to the upstream? Or are the hesitant to add this feature? If so, why?
