More importantly a new domain will simplify shutting down the diaspora service by offering new xmpp service on the new domain with native xmpp sign up and keep only the old database for authenticating existing users.
We have already one suggestion from Triskelion,
Pronunciation: du-ra-re
Meaning: withstand difficulty or resilience

We will register durare.org with Infomaniak.
What is the decision you need to make?
We need to pick a domain name for new sign ups as we cannot migrate existing users when we shut down diaspora (See https://gitlab.com/piratemovin/diasp.in/-/issues/77 for details) without writing some code and we don't have any confirmed volunteers yet (for 2 months).
Why is this important?
We need this so we can shut down diaspora service and run xmpp service better (right now server goes out of memory frequently since we only have 4GB of RAM).
What are you asking people to do?
Pick between durare.in or durare.org and domain registrars (Infomaniak, gandi.net or netim).

@weepingclown @deadman since I'm not a big fan of recent changes at gandi.net, I added netim option from https://european-alternatives.eu/category/domain-name-registrar which has a comparable prize to gandi.net (I'd have preferred https://github.com/pluja/awesome-privacy#domain-registrar but their costs are high for .in). So please reconsider your vote for gandi.net
