Reorienting the Free Software message to developers

It is also a conceptual / cultural change in the current way Free Software / Open Source is being looked at by most developers - they want to learn a new language or work only on projects in their favorite languages. Often they forget even if they have a favorite programming language, they cannot always expect all software they use will be in that language. So even if you are a developer, you still need to collectively able to modify other software - especially the core components that you use every days like your messaging app, web browser, email client or basic operating system features. Who all agree with me on this assessment ?

If you agree we need to focus on the features /user experience rather than the technology in Free Software projects, we need lots of work to do. So when one software is missing features, we should try to fix that rather than trying to create another half features one in our favorite programming language. This would also need fund raising and hiring developers - we don't have to think only from our own individual skill and time. There are also organizations like FOSS United and NLNet who can provide grants. But we still need to prioritize features we want and find developers who can dedicate time. prav and dephcom are trying this approach, but it can succeed only if more people understand this perspective, agree with it and help spread the message.
