NSO Group Pegasus is used by Governments worldwide to spy on journalists, lawyers and activists. How should we respond?

Starting this thread as a place to discuss this important topic and see if we can reach a consensus on how Indian pirates should position and respond.

The Pegasus project is reported by journalists here:

  1. In the short term only Supreme Court can order a probe

  2. For long term, we need to continue building our base and influence. We can use this opportunity to talk to people.

  3. So we can talk about surveillance and why people should care and get involved in politics to have a chance of stopping it.

Also, are there some precautions that we can suggest to journalists, activists?

Yes and I think there are good resources we can share from people like the guardian project and others. Let's compile a list here?

If they get administrator access to your phone, there is not much you can do. But there are still other good practices you can adopt for escaping from mass surveillance.

Looks like https://archive.is/JQnig documents ways to detect this particular attack. So they try to cleanup traces but still leaves some traces for detecting the attack later.

We should write a statement condemning it. That will make our stand clear.
