Constitution Ammedment: Add a Preamble
Add a preamble explaining who we are, what our purpose and what makes us different. I would suggest adding the first two slides which are 'Why Indian Pirates?' and 'Fix what's broken' to the preamble. Preamble would give a proper context upon which the constitution could be read. Let's discuss the above questions and add them to our constitution.

Construction amendment: Add to preamble, what is special about us Closed Wed 15 Jul 2020 1:00PM
We can include this change in the constitution
We need systematic change in political parties, not just different people following the same system. If only the party is really transparent and accountable to its members, it can really uphold its values. To make that possible, dissent and not discipline is the cornerstone of our group. Once you become a member you cannot be expelled from the group for indiscipline, a common tactic used by all parties to suppress dissent.

We can include this change in the constitution
Add section 3 as,
Register as a political party when we have at least 100 members in a state. Once we have that we may have to adjust our constitution to match the requirements of Election Commission of India. Once 100 people sign a resolution to form a party with a constitution compliant with Election Commission's requirements, we become a registered political party.

We need to find a radical way to organise ourselves as an alternative way to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of 21st century fellow beings. I know we don't like to be just another traditional and conventional cadre based political party or party of any sort for that matter. However, if we fail to find some radical ways to organised ourselves and grow then our is also going to be just another lost cause- disparate, stagnant and just 'that' phase in our life sort of thing.

It's easy to connect the dots by looking back. I also didn't say this would be a waste of effort, per se. Having said said that I strongly believe we'll overcome and find ways to achieve what we set out for.

@Pirate Praveen this doesn't mean it'll affect the direct democracy inside the group, does it?
Pirate Praveen Mon 20 Jul 2020 7:59AM
We will have invent something that preserves direct democracy while complying with Election Commission requirements.

@Eddie there are many aspects to it. I usually compare our freedom struggle or abolition of slavery or many other struggles which took many generations to succeed. Do you think the generations who died without seeing the result they wanted wasted their lives? Some changes can take many generations and I don't think it is any waste of effort if we are not successful in our generation. Also it is a big cultural change to conceive an organization without a leader. What we are asking people is inherently very difficult to do, so we have to understand if we are not growing as fast as we'd like to. We also need to give confidence to the people who are already in touch with to take initiatives and build things. How many among us are actually taking this seriously? How many among us are speaking to new people about our politics and ideas? If more people don't take ownership of growing the group, we cannot grow.
